1．名词型物主代词单独使用，不接名词。用于没有必要重复一个名词（单数或复数）的时候。
Whose car is this? Is it yours ?
（没有必要说“ Is it your car ?”，第一个问题已经清楚的表明说话人谈论的是车。
2．Whose用来询问某物是属于谁的。有两种办法可以问同样的问题。
Whose car is this ?(= Who does this car belong to ?)
Whose is this car ?(= Who does this car belong to?)
当没有必要重复名词时Whose后不接名词。
Whose is this ?
(说话人这样提问时，很明确他是在问车。)
当不知道某物属于谁时这样说： )
I don’t know whose it is.
I don’t know whose they are.
